“To optimize the function of the healing system, you must do everything in your power to improve physical health, mental/emotional health, and spiritual health.” Dr. Andrew Weil, Eight Weeks to Optimum Health.
This sentence from Dr. Weil’s book summarizes the reason we have formed this informal group. Of course, we all know that healthy habits are better than unhealthy habits. But in our fight against MRSA in ourselves and our families, we need to give our bodies the best chance we can to regain and maintain our health. Just thinking about our bodies natural immune system and its amazing abilities to heal is empowering to me. When my girls were sick, I felt so out of control. Their little bodies had been invaded by this horrible infection and I was frightened. Today, you would not know they had ever been sick without being told. They have as much energy and vitality as any other children in their age group. They have done so much more than survive; my girls are thriving. It didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen.
I know that MRSA brings with it the lifetime risk of recurrence. But, for today, my kids are well, thank God. I want to help fortify their own ability to get well and stay well. And I am very grateful to have some friends to work alongside, while my family takes pro-active measures to having “Optimum Health” Good luck to all of us, in our quest for wellness!
